How the guides and rules pages are made
Every rule, paytable and probability on this site is attached to a game we wrote ourselves, so checking the writing means checking it against the code as well as the source material.
Where the material comes from
- Game rules follow the standard forms of blackjack, Jacks or Better video poker, keno and two-dice betting. Where a rule varies between venues — dealer standing on soft 17, for instance — we state the version this site uses instead of describing it as the only one.
- Probabilities are calculated from first principles: counting combinations for dice and cards, and the hypergeometric distribution for keno draws. Figures are recalculated rather than copied from other sites, and rounded values are labelled as rounded.
- Paytables printed on a game page are read from the same schedule the game code uses. When one changes, both change together.
- Support information for New Zealand services is taken from the services' own published contact details and checked when the page is reviewed.
What we will not publish
No invented statistics, no fabricated player numbers, no testimonials from people who do not exist, no made-up author biographies and no news items. If a fact cannot be verified, it does not go on the page — an omission is easier to live with than a confident error.
We also publish no links to gambling operators, betting sites or other social casino products, and we take no affiliate fees, sponsorship or paid placement from anybody. There is nothing on this site that someone paid to have put there.
Who writes it
Material is produced and maintained by the South Light Games editorial desk — the same people who build the games. Content is attributed to the desk rather than to invented individual authors.
